Dahrendorf is a district of the municipality of Dehre in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The Altmark Dahrendorf, a street village with a church, is five kilometers northwest of Dehre. The eastern part of today's village was the independent municipality of Gröningen until 1937 .

The border with Lower Saxony runs north and west. Neighboring towns in Lower Saxony are Müssingen (municipality of Soltendieck , district of Uelzen ) and Gielau (municipality of Schnega , district of Lüchow-Dannenberg ).

history

Dahrendorf was first mentioned in 1334 as Dorendorpe . It belonged to the Lords of Schwerin until 1334 , after which the village belonged to the von dem Knesebeck , which had been abandoned by the von Jagow .

Incorporations

On October 1, 1937, the communities of Dahrendorf and Gröningen in the Salzwedel district merged to form a community with the name of Dahrendorf. On July 1, 1950, the municipality of Dahrendorf was incorporated into the municipality of Lagendorf . On January 1, 2009, Dahrendorf finally came as a district to the municipality of Dehre , into which Lagendorf had been incorporated.

The Protestant parish Dahrendorf belonged to the parish of Lagendorf. Today the parish belongs to the parish Osterwohle-Dehre of the parish of Salzwedel in the Provostspengel Stendal-Magdeburg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

Culture and sights

  • In early spring, the winter sweeping spectacle "Faseloom" takes place with a bear parade.
  • The "Easter Fire Festival " has been celebrated since 1990 together with the neighboring village of Harpe right on the former border.
  • The field stone church in Dahrendorf is a rectangular late Gothic building. A boarded tower stands separately in front of the west side. There is a cemetery by the church. The church is a branch church of the church in Lagendorf.
