Culture and sights
Buildings
- The Protestant church was built between 1858 and 1865. It lies at the end of the elongated village square and is surrounded by a stone wall. The neo-Gothic nave and the square, 30 meter high west tower were built from field stones. The basement of the tower is from the previous church, the upper floor is made of brick . The interior of the nave is closed off by a boarded roof truss, and a gallery was attached to the west wall . The organ was built in 1868 by the organ builder August Troch from Neuhaldensleben . The pulpit , the baptismal font and the pews all date from the time the church was built.
- To the west of the village at the cemetery are the ruins of the church of the former village of Dannenfeld . It was destroyed in 1343 in the war between Emperor Ludwig and the Duke of Brunswick. Remains of the foundation walls of the Romanesque church tower are still standing .
- One and a half kilometers south of the town center is the Hoppenmühle, first mentioned in 1375, a water mill that is still intact today.
- About two to three kilometers north-west of Immekath, two large stone graves, some of which are poorly preserved, document the settlement of the region in the Neolithic Age .

Numerous festivals take place in the village every year, including a carnival session, a carnival parade, an Easter bonfire and several dance events.

Economy and Infrastructure
In Immekath there was a factory of the large-scale bakery Fricopan (a subsidiary of the Swiss Aryzta group), which mainly produced frozen bakery products. With around 500 employees, it was one of the largest employers in the region. The plant was closed in August 2016 because, according to statements by the group management, the necessary investments would no longer be worthwhile due to a lack of profitability and poor transport connections. An agricultural cooperative and several small businesses and craftsmen are based in Immekath.
