Location of Steimke in Saxony-Anhalt

Steimke is a district of the town of Klötze in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

Heraldic oak natural monument in Steimke. It served as a model for the oak in the coat of arms

The Altmark village of Steimke, a former double round village , today a cluster village on the Ohre , is about 14 kilometers west of Klötze. In the west lies the nature reserve Ohreaue and the state border with Lower Saxony.

history

The first documentary mention as stenbere , a farm with three acres of land, comes from the year 1112, when Bishop Reinhard von Halberstadt approved the transfer of the monastery he founded in Osterwieck to Hamersleben .

In 1281 two clergymen were named as Rudolpho et Johanne fratribus de Stemke in a document issued in Arneburg. In 1357 a document in Steinbeke said that von Bartensleben gave the Margrave Ludwig the Roman income from various villages. The mention in a deed for von Bartensleben from 1420 reads: dacz dorff czu Steineke (Steinbeke), daz da licht up der Ore by Brome . Further mentions are 1530 Im Dorppe to Stemeke , 1687 Steimbeke and finally Steimcke, Steinbeck in 1804 .

The manor Vogtei Steimke, which was then eligible for state assembly, belonged to those of the Schulenburg , but was not an estate district .

First mention

The historian Peter P. Rohrlach pointed out that the mention of Steimke in 1238 Steimbeke iuxta Varsfelde refers to Steimke near Wolfsburg, today's Nordsteimke . In 1988 the 750th anniversary celebration was celebrated in the village based on this assignment. In 1956, Franz Mertens translated this mention of 1238 as steimbecke with Steinbach . Since the local Steimke is located on the Ohre, a sandy river and not on a stream with stones, the problem with the allocation was already indicated, as the local writer Hermann Buchmüller explained.

In 2012 the 900th anniversary of the place was celebrated. During an exchange with interested parties from the neighboring village of Ristedt, the local writer Hermann Buchmüller had learned of its mention in 1112 and, together with historians, was able to find Steimke as stenbere in the same document . It also appears later under this name in other documents.

Incorporations

On July 1, 1950, the community was Steimke the district Salzwedel in the district Gardelegen reclassified. On July 25, 1952, the community came to the district of Klötze . After its dissolution, Steimke was assigned to the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel on July 1, 1994.

On January 13, 2009, the municipal council of the municipality of Steimke decided that the municipality of Steimke should be incorporated into the town of Klötze. This contract was approved by the county as the lower local supervisory authority and came into effect on January 1, 2010.

After the previously independent municipality of Steimke was incorporated, Steimke became part of the town of Klötze. The local constitution was introduced for the incorporated municipality in accordance with §§ 86 ff. Municipality code of Saxony-Anhalt . The incorporated municipality of Steimke and the future district of Steimke became the locality of the receiving city of Klötze. A local council with four members including the local mayor was formed in the incorporated municipality and now the village of Steimke.
