Location of Altferchau in Saxony-Anhalt

Altferchau is a district of the village of Dönitz and the town of Klötze in the Altmark district of Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The Altmark village Altferchau is 9½ kilometers southwest of blocks, six kilometers east of Brome and about four kilometers east of the border with Lower Saxony . The Jeetze rises about ½ kilometers south of the village .

history

The first mention of Altferchau from 1506 as Olden Ferchou can be found in a deed about the pledging of half of Gardelegen Castle. Further mentions are in 1646 the desert village Alten Verchaw , in 1745 it is called Verchau alten and 1804 Alt = Ferchau .

Wilhelm Zahn quotes from the church book of Neuferchau: “After the field marks Alt- and Neu-Ferchau had been lying desolate for time immemorial and leased by the authorities (i.e. from Alvensleben's manorial authorities), these were gradually cultivated. Alt-Ferchau was built on in 1698 by the authorities at the time and was initially designated as a sheep farm, but later as a dairy farm, except for the time of Friedrich August von Alvensleben auf Isenschnibbe, who ceased the dairy farm and accepted landowners, who partly bought the old buildings , some new ones listed. "

Occasionally the place is confused with the older Ferchau near Kuhfelde.

Incorporations

On April 1, 1938, the communities of Altferchau, Dönitz and Schwarzendamm in the Salzwedel district merged to form a new community called Dönitz .

With the incorporation of Dönitz into Klötze on January 1, 2010, the Altferchau district became part of the town of Klötze and the newly established village of Dönitz.
