Zartau

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Zartau is a residential area in the town of Klötze in the Altmark district of Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The living space is about four kilometers south of Klötze and 2.5 kilometers north of Quarnebeck in the nature reserve Zichtauer Berge and Klötzer Forst.

history

The first mention of the place as a village comes from the year 1430, when dat halue dorpp to Sartow is mentioned as the Brandenburg fief of the von Plate family. When the von der Schulenburg family sold it in 1554, the place was already desolate .

Wilhelm Zahn wrote in 1909: “After the village was deserted, the entire Feldmark was overgrown by the forest. The von der Schulenburg built later, probably in the 18th century, a forester's house on the desert, which was named Zartau and in 1804 only had 3 inhabitants. In 1849 the von der Schulenburg-Beetzendorf ceded the forest district Zartau in exchange for the forest district Lüdelsen to the forest treasury. It now forms a district and is sub-forestry of the royal forest of Clötze. "

Heiland locates the desert village using a forest land map from 1764 on the front of a large, one-way high-pitched system, about 500 meters east of the forester's house.

From 1885 the place is listed as a place to live in the Clötze manor district. When the manor district of Forst Klötze was merged with the town of Klötze on December 1, 1928, Zartau became part of the town of Klötze.
