The church, probably built in the Romanesque style in the 12th century, was the village church of the village of Dannenfeld , which later became deserted . As early as 1343, the church was destroyed during a war between Duke Otto von Braunschweig and Emperor Ludwig the Bavarian .

Impressive remains of the church tower, which was originally to the west of the nave, are still preserved today. The remains of the western, southern and northern walls of the tower stand at the western exit of Immekath in front of the village cemetery.
