Aryzta has 53 production sites in 29 countries. With a turnover of 3.4 billion Swiss francs and more than 20,000 employees worldwide, the group of companies is the global market leader in its field .
The company emerged in August 2008 from the merger between the Swiss Hiestand Holding and the Irish IAWS Group . The company name is derived from the Latin word arista ("ear of corn"), which is also symbolized in the logo. Under the common corporate umbrella, Hiestand and IAWS Group will continue to operate independently on the market with their existing brands. The shares of Aryzta are listed on the Swiss stock exchange since 22 August 2008 SWX Swiss Exchange and on the Irish Stock Exchange ISE listed .
Acquisitions and Divestments
In 2010 Aryzta took over the US bakery manufacturers Fresh Start Bakeries (supplier to McDonald's) and Great Kitchens, and in 2013 the German frozen bakery manufacturer Klemme . The number of employees increases to over 9,000.
In 2015, Aryzta sold its 68% stake in the Irish agro-company Origin in several steps.
In October 2019, Aryzta announced that it had found a buyer for its stake in the French frozen food company Picard. The 43% stake was sold to Invest Group Zouari for 156 million euros.
