Location of Gieseritz in Saxony-Anhalt

Gieseritz is a district of the municipality Wallstawe in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The Altmark village of Gieseritz is located about three kilometers southwest of Wallstawe and 13 kilometers southwest of the district town of Salzwedel . The Risk Forest , a forest area that is part of the Salzwedel-Diesdorf nature reserve, is located southwest of the Rundplatzdorf . The Landgraben, the remainder of a Landwehr, runs along the border with Mehmker Holz .

history

Gieseritz was laid out as a round square village with a church on the square. The name Gieseritz comes from Slavonic .

The first documentary mention of Gieseritz as Messeritze comes from the year 1375 ( Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg ). The monastery Dambeck had possession here and of Bartensleben had here revenues.

The place was written in 1420 Ghiseritz , 1585 Jeseritz and finally in 1687 Gieseritz .

In 1959 the first type III agricultural production cooperative, the LPG “10. Anniversary".

Forest Risk

The forest area Forst Risk , formerly also called Forst Risch or Der Risch , used to belong to the Joachimtal School Office in Dambeck .

According to tradition, a Wendish village of Risk, Risch or Riesch is said to have been located here. There are no traces of a settlement in the dense forest. In 1782, a forestry department was established in the forest one kilometer east of Peckensen, which was named Risk.

The Landgraben, a Landwehr , stretches from a break southeast of Peckensen on the border to Mehmker Holz through the forest area to Groß Bierstedt , where the double wall with the ditch in between then disappears in the field. Johann Friedrich Danneil suspects that the Landwehr continued to the southeast via Rohrberg, Ahlum and Tangeln.

Incorporations

On July 1, 1950, the municipality of Umfelde was incorporated into the municipality of Gieseritz from the Salzwedel district . Already on September 30, 1928, the Risk manor had been merged with the rural community Umfelde, to which the Forest Risk belonged.

On July 25, 1952, the Gieseritz community was reclassified from the Salzwedel district to the Salzwedel district . On July 1, 1994 she came to the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel. The councils of the municipalities of Gieseritz (on November 18, 2008), Wallstawe (on November 19, 2008) and Ellenberg (on November 20, 2008) decided to dissolve their municipalities and merge them into a new municipality called Wallstawe become. This contract was approved by the county as the lower local supervisory authority and came into effect on July 1, 2009.

On July 1, 2009, the Umfelde district and the new Gieseritz district became part of the Wallstawe community.
