Hilmsen is a district of the Wallstawe municipality in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .
geography
The Altmark village Hilmsen is about five kilometers southwest of Wallstawe and 13 kilometers southwest of the county town Salzwedel . The Molmker Bach flows in the east. The Goldberg in the northeast has a height of 52 meters.
history
Hilmsen was created as a round square village with a church on the square.

In 1303 Hilmsen is first mentioned as Hildensem dictam , when the knight Gerhard von Berge certified the sale of the village to the Diesdorf monastery . In the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg from 1375 the place is listed as Hildesheim . Further names are from the years 1541 Hildeßheim , 1542 Hildenßem , 1585 Hildessem , 1775 Hilmsen, actually Hildesheim and 1804 only Hilmsen .
Incorporations
On 25 July 1952, the municipality Hilmsen was from the district Salzwedel in Salzwedel reclassified. On June 1, 1973 Hilmsen was incorporated into the community of Ellenberg .
When Ellenberg merged with other communities to form the new Wallstawe community, the Hilmsen district became part of Wallstawe on July 1, 2009.

The evangelical parish Hilmsen belonged to the parish Hilmsen. Today, the church belongs to the parish area Diesdorf the church district Salzwedel in Propst Sprengel Stendal Magdeburg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
Culture and sights
- The evangelical village church Hilmsen is a late Gothic field stone building with a square west tower, probably from the 19th century.
