Location of Hanum in Saxony-Anhalt

Hanum is a district of Jübar in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The Altmark village of Hanum is located 27 kilometers southwest of the district town of Salzwedel an der Ohre , which forms the state border with Lower Saxony , the former inner-German border .

The village is located in the transition area between the Altmark and the Lüneburg Heath in the meltwater channel of the Ohre. The source of the ears is north of Hanum near Ohrdorf . Hanum is enclosed by fields. In the north, a larger piece of forest belongs to the district.

history

The oldest traces of settlement date back 4000 years. The village complex is a round square village with a church on the square ( Rundling ) in a horseshoe shape and probably of Wendish origin.

The first documentary mention was made in 1315 as villam hanem . In the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg from 1375 the place was listed as Hanym , which belonged to the Diesdorf monastery. The mill was desolate.

After a land reorganization carried out in 1847, a positive economic development began in Hanum. In 1850 a windmill was built in the east of the village , which was in operation until 1927.

The first schoolmaster existed in town as early as 1732. Classes initially took place in the teacher's apartment building. A school house was only opened in 1858. From 1953 only classes 1 to 4 were taught. In 1962 the school was closed.

From 1911 to 1968 Hanum was connected to the rail network by a small railway of the Altmärkische Kleinbahn for the transport of people and goods. Passenger traffic ceased in 1961.

During the land reform , an area of 83 hectares was expropriated and divided among 25 settlers, seven of whom were new settlers in 1948. In 1953 the first type III agricultural production cooperative, the LPG "Tannholz", was founded in Hanum. From 1954 it was called " Philipp Müller ".

During the GDR era, Hanum was the location of a company of the GDR border troops . The security systems on the road to Zasenbeck were first opened briefly on the night of December 31, 1989 to January 1, 1990. A memorial stone in the village today reminds of the inner-German border. In contemporary witness projects of the Isenhagener Land media workshop in Hankensbüttel in 1990 and 2010, memories of the time of the division between Hanum and Zasenbeck were documented.

Incorporations

On July 25, 1952, the Hanum community was reclassified from the Salzwedel district to the Klötze district . On July 1, 1994, the community came to the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel.

The municipal councils of the municipalities Bornsen (on May 25, 2009), Hanum (on June 3, 2009), Jübar (on June 3, 2009), Lüdelsen (on May 13, 2009) and Nettgau (on June 4, 2009) decided by means of a territorial change agreement 2009), that their congregations will be dissolved and merged into a new congregation called Jübar . This contract was approved by the county as the lower local supervisory authority and came into effect on January 1, 2010.

Thus Hanum has been a district of Jübar since January 1st, 2010.

coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on March 29, 1999 by the Magdeburg Regional Council.

Blazon : “In red - raised by a silver corrugated bar - seven silver houses, grouped in a horseshoe shape around a silver house in front of a pointed silver tower; all houses with pitched roof and closed arched gate; in the shield ground in front of the horseshoe opening a silver flower with five leaves (2: 3) and a red clump. "

The colors of Hanum are silver (white) - red.

Hanum was built in the shape of a Wendish round village. This shape has been retained up to the present day and is still clearly recognizable. In the middle of the village there is the church and an old forge. The coat of arms symbolizes the layout of the village. This originally consisted of seven founder's farms. This can be found in the chronicle. The seven courtyards were laid out around the church. The former forge next to the church is a listed building. The flower depicted in the coat of arms below is carved into the building's timber frame above the gate. The wavy line in the upper part symbolizes the stream of the ears.
