Bempflingen

Bempflingen was probably founded by the Alemanni in the 5th century . This can also be inferred from the place name, which is probably linked to the first name Beonfil . At the point where the Alemannic row burial ground was found, there was previously a Roman manor.

Bempflingen was first mentioned in 1090, when Count Kuno von Wülflingen and Liutold von Achalm and their nephew, Count Werner von Grüningen , signed the so-called Bempflingen contract in Biemphelingin to regulate the estate and in particular to secure their foundation for Zwiefalten Monastery . At that time, Bempflingen was still part of the Achalm county.

Since the early 14th century the settlement belonged to the Kaib family . Later the place was sold and inherited to the Lords of Baustetten and the Lords of Mansberg . In 1448 Württemberg acquired the construction table and in 1465 also the Mansberg part of the village. In 1639 Bempflingen came under Austrian rule for ten years with the Achalm pledge, but returned to Württemberg with the Peace of Westphalia . After the administrative reorganization at the beginning of the 19th century, Bempflingen came to the Oberamt Urach , later to the district of Nürtingen . The reorganization of the district in 1973 led to the affiliation to the Esslingen district .

Incorporation of small beds

Kleinbettingen The name of the place is first clearly mentioned in 1313 as Clainbaettelingen . In the course of the community reform, Kleinbettlingen was incorporated into Bempflingen on January 1, 1972.

Religions

Bempflingen has been evangelical since the Reformation . However, there is also a small Catholic parish. Today's Protestant parish in Bempflingen comprises the main town and the suburb of Kleinbettlingen and belongs to the Bad Urach-Münsingen church district of the Evangelical Church in Württemberg .

coat of arms

Blazon: Under a double row of silver (white) and black shield head in blue a silver (white) sloping bar, covered with three red arrowheads.

The coat of arms, with the blue shield and the silver sloping bars with three red arrowheads, refers to the former local lords, the lords of Baustetten, who owned three quarters of the town in the 15th century. The gentlemen von Mannsberg, who also had property in Bempflingen, are represented by the checkerboard pattern in the coat of arms.

The municipality flag has the colors red-white (red-silver). Flag and coat of arms were awarded to the municipality in 1957 by the Ministry of the Interior.

During rush hour there is a stop of the regional express Tübingen-Stuttgart, apart from that there is no longer a free connection to Stuttgart.

Coming from Nürtingen, Bempflingen is the last stop for which the VVS tariff applies. Until 2008 a DB ticket was required to continue towards Metzingen ; On January 1, 2009, Bempflingen was integrated into the naldo tariff, so that only a naldo ticket is required to continue to Tübingen.

Buildings

Bempflingen06.jpg
  • The foundation walls of today's Bempflinger mill date back to 1659. For the mill, which was first mentioned in a document in 1391, the Erm canal was created.
  • The Protestant St. Stephen's Church was built at the end of the 13th century to replace an older previous building in the late Romanesque style, of which the north wall and the lower part of the tower are still preserved in the current building. The nave was built by Stuttgart structural engineer Christian Friedrich Roth in 1827 as a hall church in the style of the camera office with a pulpit altar wall and a three-sided gallery. Senior building officer Christian Friedrich von Leins raised the tower in the neo-Romanesque style in 1869. Architect Heinz Klatte arranged for an interior renovation in 1954. Two bells from 1468 and 1514 have been preserved.
