history

Altbach 1683/1685 in Kieser's forest inventory book

Until the 19th century

Finds of row grave fields and the early documentary mention indicate that the settlement was founded in the early Middle Ages. Altbach was first mentioned in 783 in the Lorsch Codex . In the 13th century ( Alpach ) the Counts of Aichelberg acquired the place, but sold it piece by piece to the Adelberg Monastery . With the Reformation (1535), the sovereignty came to Württemberg , Altbach remained part of the Adelberg monastery office . From 1806 Altbach belonged to the Oberamt Eßlingen in the Kingdom of Württemberg . In 1819 Altbach was separated from the neighboring village of Zell , which is now a district of Esslingen, and has existed as an independent municipality ever since. In 1846, Altbach was connected to the railway network of the Württemberg Railway with its own train station , creating the conditions for industrialization .

From the 20th century

In 1904 Altbach was connected to the power grid, and a year later a water pipeline was built. Between 1922 and 1923 the church separated from the mother town of Zell and had a parish administration until 1931. During the Second World War , around 10 to 12 houses were damaged and two civilians were killed. In 1984 Altbach celebrated its 1200th anniversary. From 1999 to December 15, 2000, the new Egertenäcker area was built .

It is located on an island on the Neckar and half of it on the district of the neighboring municipality of Deizisau, which is why the full name is also Kraftwerk Altbach / Deizisau. The two chimneys are higher than the Schurwaldhöhen and the Filder and therefore visible from afar.

Waste disposal

The waste management company of the Esslingen district is responsible for waste disposal. There are separate collections for organic waste , household waste and paper. As part of the Green Dot, packaging is collected in so-called yellow bags . Bulky waste can be picked up free of charge by handing in one of two vouchers a year, or it can be taken to a disposal station. Electrical and metal scrap and other recyclable materials can also be disposed of at the disposal stations. There are special collections of problematic substances for hazardous waste such as fluorescent lamps and paint.
