history
From the Middle Ages to the 19th century
The first written mention of Neuhausen comes from the year 1153. The place was then under local nobles , the Lords of Neuhausen . 1269 Neuhausen becomes a Hohenberg fiefdom. In the 14th century, the place came under Habsburg rule for 66,000 heavy gold guilders , since Count Rudolf III. von Hohenberg could no longer hold his property due to debts and was assigned to Upper Austria . During the Reformation all surrounding Württemberg villages became Protestant; Neuhausen thus became a Catholic island in front of Austria. In 1769 the Principality of Speyer acquired the place. The reorganization of southwest Germany by Napoleon Bonaparte initially led to membership of the Electorate of Baden in 1803 , but in 1806 Neuhausen was swapped to the Kingdom of Württemberg and was assigned to the Oberamt Esslingen in 1808 .
20th century
During the district reform during the Nazi era in Württemberg , Neuhausen came to the Esslingen district in 1938. After the Second World War, the place became part of the American zone of occupation and thus belonged to the newly founded state of Württemberg-Baden , which was merged into the current state of Baden-Württemberg in 1952.
Until 1969 the novitiate of the Upper German Province of the Jesuits was in Neuhausen. During the municipal reform in 1973 , Neuhausen remained independent.
