Balluff is a global supplier for all areas of automation and one of the major manufacturers of sensor technology . The company has been family-run for four generations and is based in Neuhausen auf den Fildern and has sales offices in 60 countries as well as ten production sites around the globe.
history
In 1921 the company was founded by Gebhard Balluff as a mechanical repair workshop. A company for precision, turned and milled parts emerged from it. It was here in 1956 that new types of electromechanical limit switches were developed , which were patented and which were the starting point for the development and production of industrial sensors .
Electronic sensors and position measuring systems followed. The development of identification systems began in the 1980s. As one of 14 founding members of the consortium, Balluff was involved in the introduction of the new IO-Link communication standard .
The diversification of the company went hand in hand with its internationalization . The first subsidiary in Austria was founded in 1971 . SIE Sensorik Industrie-Elektronik GmbH in Viernheim was taken over in 2009 and High Resolution GmbH in Kirchheim am Neckar in 2012 . In 2014 the company STM Sensor Technologie München GmbH was incorporated into the Balluff Group. Stuttgart-based iss innovative software services GmbH and Matrix Vision GmbH in Oppenweiler have been part of the company since September 2017, with the aim of strengthening digitization.
Products
The portfolio includes industrial sensors with the common measuring principles for object detection , path and distance measurement, condition monitoring and identification. In addition, the appropriate network and connection technology as well as extensive accessories .
