coat of arms
Blazon : "In silver (white) under a lying black stag pole a fallen black ploughshare." In many modern depictions the ploughshare is not filled in black.
While the stag bar indicates the rule of Württemberg, the ploughshare is based on a stain mark and has been traceable since 1773. The current coat of arms of the municipality was awarded on June 28, 1957 by the Ministry of the Interior of Baden-Württemberg. The municipality flag is black and white (black and silver). The flag colors were awarded in 1980 by the Esslingen District Office.
Community partnerships
Since 1972 there have been partnerships with Connantre in France , a place in Champagne , which were sealed in 1990 with an official municipal partnership .
Culture and sights
The 180 million year old fossil finds in the Urwelt Museum in Hauff are world famous . There is also a quarry on site where visitors can search for fossils themselves.
Culinary specialties
The " Bätscher " is a specialty , which can be found in Holzmaden and other places in the area, such as Weilheim or Notzingen . The Bätscher is a pizza-like bread pastry, coated with sour cream, caraway seeds and various spices. In the past, the bait was mostly made from black bread dough and had an oval shape, similar to flatbread. The town center with the church, rectory and some houses has such a shape and therefore bears the name "Bätscher".
Infrastructure and facilities
traffic
The community is located north of the federal motorway 8 , almost exactly halfway between Ulm and Stuttgart and is five minutes by car from the Aichelberg junction.
The place was connected to the railway network in 1908 via the Kirchheim (Teck) Süd – Weilheim (Teck) railway. Passenger traffic was discontinued in 1982, freight traffic in 1995. The listed railway station now serves as a restaurant.
The Swabian Alb Cycle Path is a long-distance cycle path that comes from the Swabian Alb biosphere area and leads through the village. Its destination is Nördlingen in the east and Lake Constance in the south .
Educational and sports facilities
Holzmaden also has a primary school, two kindergartens, a community hall with an attached gym and a sports and leisure facility.

The club work is an essential factor in social life in Holzmaden. A village festival is organized every three years (Bätscherfest).
