The knight canton Neckar-Black Forest was one of the five cantons of the imperial knighthood in the knightly district of Swabia . In 1804 the canton comprised 153 localities.

Structure of the knight circles

The free imperial knighthood in south-west Germany was divided into a Rhenish , Franconian and Swabian knight circle , which in turn consisted of different cantons. The Swabian Knight Circle was divided into the cantons of Danube , Hegau-Allgäu-Bodensee , Neckar-Black Forest, Kocher and Kraichgau . The knightly district of Ortenau was attached to the canton since 1749 .
