geography

St. Vitus Church

Up until modern times, life in Deufringen mainly took place around the Evangelical Church of St. Veit and the Deufring Castle in the valley. In the 20th century in particular, the sometimes quite steep slopes south and north of the town center were built on. In particular, the newer building areas in the north of Deufringen have only been settled since the 1980s.

The topography of Deufringen is diverse and includes, in addition to the rather barren landscape of the Heckengäus in the north, towards Lehenweiler , overgrown by hedges and bushes , a large forest area in the south towards Dachtel and Gechingen . The “next forest” lies along the southern edge of the valley to Gechingen and is bordered in the south by the sports facilities of the FSV Deufringen and the communal road to Gechingen-Bergwald.

Only the village of the same name belongs to the district of Deufringen. In the area of the district are the abandoned villages Brunnhalden and Sighartstal.

middle Ages

The place Deufringen, an old branch of Gechingen , was first mentioned on July 17, 1268 as Tuveringen in a document from the Sindelfingen monastery . In this document, Count Palatine Rudolf I of Tübingen allocates income from his estates in Deufringen to the Martinsstift in Sindelfingen.

In 1357 the village came from the Count Palatine of Tübingen with the city of Böblingen to Württemberg . From 1402 to 1699 the lords of Validlingen received Deufringen from the House of Württemberg as a fief. The Deufring Castle from 1592 commemorates the Lords of Validlingen .

Württemberg time

In the old Württemberg period, Deufringen belonged to the Böblingen office as a chamber property. Duke Ulrich von Württemberg pushed through the Reformation in his Duchy of Württemberg in 1534 , so that Deufringen has been evangelical since then.

During the implementation of the new administrative structure in the Kingdom of Württemberg , which had existed since 1806 , Deufringen remained assigned to the Böblingen Oberamt .

In 1850 Deufringen had 714 Protestant and one Catholic residents, who lived and worked in 100 main and 71 auxiliary buildings.

The administrative reform during the Nazi era in Württemberg led to membership in the Boeblingen district in 1938 .

Post-war until today

After the Second World War, Deufringen fell into the American zone of occupation and in 1945 came to the newly founded state of Württemberg-Baden , which was incorporated into the state of Baden-Württemberg in 1952.

After lengthy negotiations and disagreements, the municipality of Deufringen, with a population of 1,195 at that time, was incorporated into the municipality of Aidlingen on December 1, 1971.

From 1964 to 1978 the “Wengert” and “Hennenburg” building areas on the north-eastern slope of the valley were developed. Between 1976 and 1982 the town center was redeveloped and the thoroughfare was expanded. Together with Dachtel, Deufringen built the Schallenberg School with a gym and teaching pool in 1963.
