Wellenstein ( Luxembourgish Wellesteen , local Welleschten ) is a village in the Luxembourgish municipality of Schengen . Until the end of 2011, Wellenstein was the capital of the municipality of the same name, which belonged to the canton of Remich . The community of Wellenstein was merged with the communities of Bürmeringen and Schengen on November 23, 2011 to form a new community, which was given the name Schengen.
