Hausen ob Verena is a municipality in the district of Tuttlingen in Baden-Württemberg , Germany .

Geographical location
Hausen ob Verena is on the edge of the Baar plateau at the foot of the Swabian Alb between 740 and 860 m above sea level. NHN , a good ten kilometers northwest of the district town of Tuttlingen and two kilometers southwest of Spaichingen . The 912 meter high Hohenkarpfen is located in the municipality .

The community borders the city of Spaichingen in the north, Rietheim-Weilheim in the east, Seitingen-Oberflacht in the south and Gunningen in the west .

history
Hausen was first mentioned in a document in 1092. In a document from 1275 it appears as Husen apud Kalphen , a reference to the local mountain Hohenkarpfen. It is no longer possible to determine how the later addition to the name whether Verena came to honor St. Verena . Remains of Hohenkarpfen Castle can still be found in the area. During the time of the tribal duchies , Hausen was part of the Duchy of Swabia .

Municipal council
The municipal council in Hausen ob Verena has eight members. It consists of the voluntary councilors and the mayor as chairman. The mayor is entitled to vote in the municipal council. In the local elections on May 26, 2019, the local council was elected by majority vote. Majority voting takes place if no or only one nomination has been submitted. The applicants with the highest number of votes are then elected. The turnout was 72.8% (2014: 67.8%).

Culture and sights
The Hohenkarpfen Art Foundation's museum is located near Hausen ob Verena . Two to three temporary exhibitions on art from the 19th and 20th centuries in southwest Germany are held here every year.
The municipality is affiliated with the "Donaubergland" tourist association.

Hausen ob Verena can be reached with the 130 bus of the Tuttlingen District Transport Association ( TUTicket ). There is a connection to the ring train at the respective endpoints of line 130, in Spaichingen and Trossingen .
