The village belonged to the County of Hohenberg and came to Front Austria in 1381 . In 1634 the village was destroyed by the Swedes in the Thirty Years' War , and one fifth of the village's inhabitants died when the plague broke out in 1635. In a fire in 1748, 24 houses were destroyed. In 1796, scattered French troops set fire to the place. In 1805 the village and the entire Hohenberg rule fell to the Electorate of Württemberg and thus found itself in the Kingdom of Württemberg , founded in 1806 . There it was assigned to the Oberamt Spaichingen . During the regional reform in 1938, the place became part of the Tuttlingen district .

coat of arms

Coat of arms of Bubsheim
Blazon : "In silver ( white ) a rooted green beech ."
Reasons for the coat of arms: In the book "The district and municipal coats of arms in the administrative district of Freiburg" the following statement can be found:

“In 1933 the municipality adopted the coat of arms, which can be found as an image on a seal from 1762, as the municipal coat of arms. The inscription of the seal reads SIGILL.DER.GEMAINDT.BVBSHAIM. The tree had previously been called a linden tree and was associated with an old village linden tree . For the tinging of the coat of arms, the colors silver and green were chosen at the suggestion of the archive management. The colors for the flag, which was awarded by the Ministry of the Interior on March 20, 1968, are derived from this . "

Regular events

  • The Swabian-Alemannic Carnival is a highlight in Bubsheim's annual cycle . It traditionally begins in Bubsheim on Schmotzige Durschtig . As is customary in the region, the guild councils of the Habermus guild dust off the guild häser Bürglenarr and Habermusweible on Epiphany . On the morning of the Schmotzige , the foolish society meets at the Traube inn for the first refreshment before the takeover of power in the town hall and the school exemption. Thereafter again in the as lunch Traube the Habermussuppe consumed before the afternoon of the traditional plow parade of fools seed sowing and Strohbärtreiben takes place. The day then ends in the community hall or in various locations and houses. Earlier Thursday, now on Friday evening, the fools guild organizes a colorful evening in which many a fool's piece of the year is picked up. The highlight of the local carnival then is the children's parade on Carnival Monday before the carnival on Zeischtig with the egg collecting (see. Also Bettelnarr ) and subsequent fools Felling comes to an end. Originally a pure street and tavern façade , the foolish activity in Bubsheim has shifted over time more to hall events and visits to fools' meetings . More recently, however, a slight downward trend has been discernible.
  • D'Torch: On Facklesuntig , the first Sunday after Ash Wednesday is traditionally the beacon burned. In the past, the 9th grade pupils started erecting the torch weeks in advance with the support of the older age groups. Today the ninth graders are supported by 4 local associations and the construction only takes place at the Facklesamschtig . For this purpose, wood waste and the disused Christmas trees are collected in the village and piled up under a triangular or quadrangular frame made of poles . The top of the torch is decorated with a witch made by the girls of the year. So that the torch does not fall victim to the pranks of the youngsters from surrounding villages during the night from Saturday to Sunday, it must be guarded until daybreak on Sunday. The bonfire failed more than once on Sunday evening because it had burned down during the night. (In such a case, the year-olds erect a small “emergency” torch again on Sunday.) Normally, however, the torch is lit and burned on Sunday evening with the participation of the population, especially the children, when it gets dark. The children bring a pitch torch or a lantern , which used to be a smoke or swivel jug . The location of the torch is today at the foot of the Kirchberg, earlier locations were also on Pfeiffenboschen or Schafhausweg .

Agriculture

In addition to arable and livestock farming, fruit is also grown in Bubsheim. A tree keeper delivered rough, late pome fruits and quite a lot of cherries from a community nursery. The fruit trees were planted by the roadside and on private land. In the land register, the use of the hard shoulder in Württemberg was regulated by easements . In the higher places, late blooming rough varieties. In Bubsheim, historical varieties were replanted on the avenue along the through-town, which are regularly and professionally maintained.

In addition to King Wilhelm , the Brethren also gave away fruit trees. Today, the varieties that thrive in Bubsheim, such as Kolbinger gold pears, are made available as high trunks from the nature conservation center in Beuron via bulk orders . The orchards are not only valuable because of their landscape-defining importance, but also because of their ecological wealth. They provide habitats for endangered animal and plant species and serve as a local recreation area. Above all, the old varieties, which are now almost unknown, turn out to be special aromatic carriers when they are further processed into fruit specialties.
