Turned part

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Components with a circular cross-section are traditionally referred to as turned parts , which originally could only be precisely and economically manufactured using the turning process . These include bolts , bushings , shafts , axles , spindles, rolling elements or screws .

This historical significance is still common in the names of companies and for their product range , even if some of the components can now be manufactured using other processes (such as screwing by extrusion ) or other processes are possible on CNC lathes in addition to turning, so that the shapes of the parts made on them are more diverse.
