Balgheim is a municipality in the Tuttlingen district in Baden-Württemberg . Apart from the village of Balgheim, no other localities belong to the municipality of Balgheim.

Geographical location
Balgheim lies in a valley on the edge of the Baar plateau at the foot of the Swabian Alb and the Trinity Mountain at an altitude of 680 to 980 m above sea level. NHN . The European Rhine - Danube watershed runs across the municipality . Here is the source of the Prim , which flows into the Neckar in Rottweil ; The Faulenbach rises just one kilometer away in the neighboring village of Dürbheim and flows into the Danube via the Elta in Tuttlingen .

history
Graves from the Merovingian period suggest that the place was founded in the 6th or 7th century. Balgheim was first mentioned in a document in 1113. In 1420 the village was sold to the Free Imperial City of Rottweil, where it remained until 1689. After that, the rulers changed frequently until it came to the Kingdom of Württemberg in 1806 and was then assigned to the Oberamt Spaichingen . During the regional reform in 1938, the place became part of the Tuttlingen district .

Economy and Infrastructure

On the outskirts of Balgheim, federal highway 14 runs between Rottweil and Tuttlingen. The Gäubahn Stuttgart – Singen overcomes the European watershed here. At the Balgheim stop , there are hourly ring train connections to Rottweil , Tuttlingen and Geisingen -Leipferdingen on weekdays. In Rottweil there is a connection to the IC to Stuttgart, in Tuttlingen to the IC to Zurich and to the IRE trains to Ulm and Neustadt (Black Forest). The bus route 19 of the TUTicket transport association to Bubsheim connects Balgheim with its neighboring communities.
