Geographical location

Mahlstetten is located on the Großer Heuberg , a plateau in the southwest of the Swabian Alb , a good ten kilometers north of the district town of Tuttlingen .

The surrounding communities are Böttingen in the north, Renquishausen and Kolbingen in the east, the city of Mühlheim an der Donau in the south and Dürbheim in the west .

history

The community of Mahlstetten was first mentioned in 1253. The village was at the time in the area of ​​the Duchy of Swabia . After its dissolution, like Böttingen and Königsheim, it was owned by the Counts of Zollern and the Beuron Monastery and was pledged to Bishop Heinrich II of Konstanz in 1303 . In 1391 Mahlstetten came to the Lords of Weitingen and in 1409 to the Lords of Enzberg . From 1659 to 1701 the village belonged temporarily to the Lords of Bodman . From 1701 to 1805 the Lords of Enzberg were again in possession of Mahlstetten. In the course of mediatization the place fell to Württemberg in 1805 .

In the Kingdom of Württemberg , the village was assigned to the Spaichingen District Office in 1810 . The regional reform of 1938 made Mahlstetten part of the Tuttlingen district .
