Geographical location

Königsheim is located on an undulating height of the Großer Heuberg in the southwest of the Swabian Alb .

Königsheim borders, starting clockwise in the north, on Egesheim , Bärenthal , Renquishausen , Böttingen and Bubsheim .

history

Early history

Königsheim was first mentioned in a document in 777 as "Kunigshaim". During the time of the tribal duchies , Königsheim was in the Duchy of Swabia . In the 13th century the village was owned by the Beuron monastery and became part of the County of Zollern . From then on, the village shared the fate of Böttingen and changed hands several times until the beginning of the 19th century.

History since the 19th century

After the Kingdom of Württemberg was founded, the village was assigned to the Spaichingen District Office in 1810 . In the course of the regional reform in 1938, the district of Tuttlingen came into being .

In church terms, the village belonged to the parish of Egesheim , and in the 14th century Königsheim got its own stone church, which was replaced by the current building in 1837.

The community is a member of the Heuberg community administration association, based in Wehingen .

Municipal council

The municipality council in Königsheim has eight members. It consists of the voluntary councilors and the mayor as chairman. The mayor is entitled to vote in the municipal council. In the local elections on May 26, 2019, the local council was elected by majority vote. Majority voting takes place if no or only one nomination has been submitted. The applicants with the highest number of votes are then elected. The turnout was 70.0% (2014: 58.2%).

Culture and sights

Königsheim is on the Schwäbische Albstraße , which leads past many sights. The municipality is affiliated with the "Donaubergland" tourist association.

Economy and Infrastructure

The community has developed into an industrial location. It is one of the taxable communities in the Tuttlingen district. In 2008 there are 350 jobs in the community. With 561 inhabitants, this means a positive commuter balance, 267 commuters compared to 154 commuters. Metal processing companies are predominant. The largest employers are Aicher Alfred-Johann (mechanical workshops), Aicher Augustin (precision engineering), Dreko (CNC turning, drilling and milling parts), EZU (precision turned parts), Frech Josef (molded parts and toolmaking) and Loma (precision turned parts).

The power supply is provided by EnBW , the water supply by the water supply association Hohenberggruppe based in Meßstetten , the wastewater treatment by the association sewage treatment plant in Egesheim .

Königsheim is on the L 443. Local public transport is guaranteed by TUTicket . There is a connection to the Ringzug in Mühlheim.
