coat of arms
Blazon : "In a split shield in front in silver a continuous red cross, behind in blue a golden lyre." | |
Reasons for the coat of arms: The coat of arms and the flag of the municipality were awarded on March 9, 1977 by the Tuttlingen District Office.
Just as the municipality name is composed of the names of both suburbs, the coat of arms also consists of motifs from the previous municipal coats of arms. The red cross is the coat of arms of the Hochstift Konstanz . In confused colors, it formed the front field of the municipality's coat of arms, which has been used by Seitingen since 1956, but in the new coat of arms it has expressiveness for the entire municipality. As part of the Konzenberg rule, both places belonged to the cathedral chapter from 1300 and from 1600 until the secularization of the cathedral provost of Constance. The lyre is reminiscent of the Alemannic row grave field in the Oberflacht district, among which such an instrument from the 6th – 7th centuries can be found. Century. The coat of arms of the former municipality of Oberflacht was awarded in 1963. |

Economy and Infrastructure
Wastewater treatment
The task of wastewater treatment in Seitingen-Oberflacht is carried out by the wastewater association Ostbaar. The municipalities of Hausen ob Verena, Durchhausen and Gunningen also belong to this waste water association. In the future, this facility of the wastewater association is to be expanded and modernized with the support of the state of Baden-Württemberg. The reason for the necessary modernization is that the water quality of the Elta and Upper Danube has deteriorated. Therefore, the sewage treatment plant must meet higher purification requirements in the future.
