The Prim is a right tributary on the upper reaches of the Neckar in Baden-Württemberg and flows along the Albtrauf along the Großer Heuberg .

Surname

The Prim takes its name from Latin: It is the first major right tributary of the Neckar (Latin primus , 'the first').

geography

course

The Prim rises about two kilometers north of Balgheim in the district of Tuttlingen in a south-facing forest blade next to the Dreifaltigkeitsberg . After it has left this steep valley, it turns around three kilometers after its source in Balgheim to the northwest, a direction that it essentially maintains up to the mouth. As a result, it runs through Spaichingen and Aldingen , flows between Aixheim on the left and Frittlingen on the right edge and then passes the Rottweiler district of Neufra on the right bank. Below it turns again for a short distance to the north, here it borders an industrial area of Rottweil near the Saline Wilhelmshall and then its district of Altstadt from the east, with the district of Göllsdorf on the right bank. Then it joins the upper Neckar, which runs roughly to the north, from the right and south-east opposite the town's train station .

The Prim makes its headwheel near Balgheim close to the origin of the Faulenbach , which runs south to the Danube . Between the two bodies of water, which are still small here, the European main watershed crosses a very low saddle in the course of the conspicuously wide Mulden valley through which the two bodies of water flow. The primary was created here by flow reversal in the upper reaches of the times of the ancient Danube much longer lazy stream. Because of the flat relief in the course of this valley, it now offers a low-gradient connection between Rottweil and Tuttlingen , which is why both the federal highway 14 and the Gäubahn run in it.
