List of the tributaries of the Neckar

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Neckar is a large right tributary of the Rhine , which rises in the area of the narrow point between the southwest Swabian Alb and the Central Black Forest . It is a matter of dispute where its “correct” source is, depending on whether it is 362 to 384 km in length. It drains an area of 13,934 km², most of which is in Baden-Württemberg , and flows into Mannheim .

River system of the Neckar

The largest of the Neckar tributaries are the Enz with the largest catchment area, the Kocher with the highest mean water flow and the Jagst with the greatest length. The Kocher tributary Lein is not only longer at the confluence than the upper course of the Kocher there, but also richer in water; according to hydrographic convention, the Lein would be the main river of the digester system, which would exceed the Jagst with a 201-kilometer-long flow path.

A total of eight tributaries reach over 50 km in length, namely one after the other the Eyach , the Fils , the Rems , the Murr , then - already mentioned - the Enz, the Kocher, the Jagst and finally the Elsenz . Enz and Elsenz are left, the other right tributaries.
