Silo in Klein Kussewitz

The Klein Kussewitz silo has been a listed building since 1990 in Klein Kussewitz , Bentwisch municipality in the Rostock district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany).

history

The structure was built as a silo in 1928 and was used to store beet cuttings until the 1970s . It belongs to an ensemble that was built around the Klein Kussewitz manor . The then landowner Kulenkampff transported the feed for his dairy cows into the silo with the help of a crane and a cart.

At the time of the GDR , the silo was used by an LPG . After the fall of the Wall , the property fell into disrepair until it was converted into a residential building by a private investor in 2000. With an investment of around 150,000 euros, around 140 m² of living space was created. For the renovation, the two existing brick tubes had to be gutted and rebuilt taking static requirements into account . The newly installed ceilings presented a particular problem, as the tubes had to be cut lengthways and the walls were up to half a meter thick. The roof structure was raised by 20 centimeters. There should be no edge when covering the beaver tails , as this would not have corresponded to the original. The roof tiles were also attached with a crown covering .
