Klein Kussewitz manor house

The Klein Kussewitz manor (also known as Schloss K ) is located in Klein Kussewitz , Bentwisch municipality in the Rostock district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). The listed building was built in 1803 and rebuilt in the neo-Gothic style in the middle of the 19th century . It is now privately owned.

history

From 1704 the estate was owned by the von Bülow family . From 1751 to 1781 it was owned by Dr. Spalding from Rostock.
In 1800 Ernst Christian Frehse took over the estate. He had the manor built in 1803. In the middle of the 19th century the manor house was extensively renovated in the neo-Gothic style. Therese Caroline Elisabeth Schomann, née Frehse, then took over the estate until 1887. From 1894 to 1905 August Schomann has been handed down as the landlord, who sold it to Julius Kulenkampff in 1908. At the end of the Second World War , the last owner of this family committed suicide .

The house became the property of the Klein Kussewitz community. She used it as a house, restaurant, sales point, community office and doctor's office. After the fall of the Wall , the last residents left the manor house and it fell into disrepair. Experts are of the opinion that this manor house, like other mansions from this period, was hardly included in the state monuments lists for "political reasons", since they belonged to an era "which one believed to have finally overcome with the land reform ." sold a private investor who renovated it and now uses it as living space, restaurant and event location. In addition to the manor house, a 1.7 hectare large, sprawled landscape park belongs to the property.

Side view

The two-storey building was initially built with identical and symmetrically arranged windows on the ground and first floors. The first floor was optically separated from the lower part of the building by a cornice and delimited from the roof by a triangular frieze . The middle part of the building protruded from the building and was optically emphasized by pilaster strips . Towards the top they lengthen in two small towers. In between there was a central risalit in which a clock was set. The conversion to the neo-Gothic style was carried out, among other things, by installing the pointed arched windows typical of the Gothic period . The four upper windows were reduced in size and framed with more pointed arches. In addition, an oriel was added as well as an additional porch on the ground floor, which lost the original symmetry of the building. During the last renovation, this porch was removed again; however, the bay window remained.
