history

Schwalldorf is mentioned for the first time around 1100 in the Codex of the Hirsau Monastery ( Codex Hirsaugiensis ). A nobleman named Fridericus de Swaldorf is also mentioned in the codex. The first documentary but mention of the place comes from a deed of 7 July 1304. The bailiff of Count von Hohenberg , Henry Amman, the gifted Dominican convent Kirchberg with a Good to Schwalldorf. In 2004 the district celebrated its 700th anniversary as a result.

It is believed that the place is much older, however. The word ending "-dorf" suggests that it was built in the 7th or 8th century, especially since this is confirmed by numerous excavation finds. However, the document of July 7, 1304 is the only recognized evidence.

A chapel is mentioned for the first time in 1357 . At that time Schwalldorf was a branch of the parish of Dettingen , which belonged to the Johanniterkommende Hemmendorf . In a document dated August 28, 1437, in which a curate chaplaincy is established, the patron St. Andreas is mentioned for the first time. In 1507 Schwalldorf got its own parish . The chapel was elevated to a parish church .

The place belonged to the Niederhohenberg landscape from 1381 to 1806 . With the sale of the County of Hohenberg, by Rudolf III. von Hohenberg, the place came to Front Austria in 1381 . Through the Peace of Pressburg , the place and the County of Hohenberg fell to Württemberg in 1805 . In 1807 he was assigned to the newly founded Oberamt Rottenburg . Rottenburg was also the seat of an Austrian higher office before it came to Württemberg. After the dissolution of the Oberamt (Rottenburg district), the place became part of the Tübingen district. On January 1, 1972, the previously independent community Schwalldorf was incorporated into the city of Rottenburg am Neckar.

Local council

In Schwalldorf there had been a village court run by the mayor since at least the 15th century . The village court is considered the forerunner of the later municipal council . The names of the municipal councils of the former Schwalldorf municipality have been handed down from 1932. The Schwalldorf municipal council had between six and ten members in the terms of office from 1932.

With the incorporation of the place into the city of Rottenburg, the local council was replaced by a local council , which has since consisted of seven members. The local council represents the interests of the citizens of the district towards the city administration and the local council. The local council acts as an administrative body . The current local council was elected in the last local elections on May 26, 2019. All current members belong to the voter association of the Schwalldorf citizens' list .

coat of arms

The town's coat of arms was made in 1952 and introduced by the municipality. It shows a blue swallow heraldically flying to the left and a blue tower snail, separated by a blue wavy bar , on a silver shield. The blue tower snail below the wave bar is intended to indicate one of the two settlement centers of the place, the "Schneckenhof" . The blue wave bar represents a large amount of water and thus indicates the origin of the place name of Schwalldorf, which is supposed to be derived from Schwalbrunnen according to an assumption . Another theory is represented by the blue swallow above the wave bar.

Buildings

Parish Church of St. Andrew

Today's parish church in the village was built in 1733 in the Baroque style and is dedicated to St. Andrew. Previously there was a chapel at the site, which was first mentioned in 1357 and which, according to a document from 1437, was consecrated to St. Andrew. With the establishment of the parish in 1507, this chapel was elevated to a parish church. When this parish church became too small for the growing community, it was decided in 1732 to build a new parish church.

Regular events

  • Swabian-Alemannic Carnival : The carnival is very important in the Rottenburg area. A “Vassnacht” is mentionedin Rottenburg as early as the 15th century. In the Catholic Rottenburg and its surroundings, the foolish hustle and bustle is tradition. In 1984 the first carnival group was founded in Schwalldorf, the Elbenloch witches ; In 1989 the fool's guild was born. The carnival season officially begins on January 6th with the traditional mask dusting. The Fleggafasnet with a parade through the village takes place on the Saturday before the main carnival , one week before the high season in Rottenburg. In the last few years, over 1000 Häträger took part in the local parade.
  • Onion bed festival : On the last weekend of the summer holidays in Baden-Württemberg, the local clubs organize the onion bed festival. Onion pie is the local name for onion pie. It is a small, contemplative "squat" in the town center. The onion bed festival has existed since 1986 and has established itself as a village festival.

Infrastructure

Schwalldorf is remote and far away from major traffic routes . In contrast to other Rottenburg districts, Schwalldorf did not see a large increase in the number of inhabitants.

traffic

The district road 6943 (formerly Landesstraße 392) leads either from Bad Niedernau (from the direction of Rottenburg) or from Frommenhausen into the village. The road connects the state roads 370 and 392. It joins the L 392 in Frommenhausen and the L 370 shortly before Bad Niedernau. The volume of traffic is low, which ensures a low level of noise pollution.

Local public transport

In local public transport , buses run on line 7626 between Rottenburg am Neckar and Eyach during the day , as well as occasional trips on the supplementary line 7623A between Schwalldorf and Hirrlingen . The place is in honeycomb 112 of the Neckar-Alb-Danube transport association (Naldo). Lines 7626 and 7623A are part of the West 1 line bundle of the Tübingen district and have been used by the bus company Edel GmbH & Co. KG from Rottenburg on behalf of the Tübingen district since January 1, 2018.

Line 7626

On route 7626, low-floor buses run from 5 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. to Rottenburg and in the opposite direction from around 5 a.m. to shortly after 7 p.m. from Rottenburg to the town. The public buses do not run according to a uniform rhythm. In the morning from 5 a.m. to around 9 a.m. (rush hour) there is an almost half-hourly connection to Rottenburg with individual booster trips in school traffic. Conversely, there is an almost half-hourly connection from Rottenburg to the town from 12 p.m. until just before half past six in the evening (rush hour). Otherwise, the regular buses run in the morning from Rottenburg to the town almost every hour and in the afternoon from in the direction of Rottenburg almost every hour.

On Saturday line 7626 runs every hour during the day. The buses run from around half past six in the morning to half past six in the evening from the town to the core town of Rottenburg. The line runs from town to town on Saturdays from just before half past seven in the morning until just before half past five in the evening.

Call collective taxi

From Monday to Saturday in the evening and night, as well as on Sundays and public holidays, registration traffic is offered almost every hour in the Rottenburg area. Several lines are bundled here. With regard to Schwalldorf, the routes 7623 (Rottenburg-Hirrlingen), 7626 (Rottenburg-Schwalldorf-Eyach) and 7629 (Rottenburg-Börstingen-Eyach) are usually bundled (southwestern district). The journey of the collective call taxi changes depending on where the passengers live. Therefore, the travel time between Schwalldorf and Rottenburg in the registration traffic varies between 10 and 40 minutes depending on the route. The registration drives run at a fixed time as required, but must be registered at least 60 minutes in advance. The registration runs are carried out by the transport company Sailer Reisen GmbH & Co. KG from Rottenburg on behalf of the Tübingen district.

train

The railway line of the Upper Neckar Valley Railway Tübingen-Horb runs through the neighboring town of Bieringen in the Neckar Valley . Opposite the railway station there, an asphalted path about one and a half kilometers long (Bieringer Steige) leads through the forest up to Schwalldorf. The path is cleared for agricultural and forestry traffic and is not cleared in winter.

telecommunications

Since the end of 2010, the location has VDSL with a possible downstream rate of up to 50 Mbit / s . Until a network change was made, internet use was only possible with a modem or ISDN. After the network change, DSL Light (384 Kbit / s) was available in some streets. A faster internet connection was not possible due to old cables. A renewal of the cables was refused by Deutsche Telekom due to low profitability.

Several Rottenburg suburbs are affected by a slow internet connection. In July 2008, a citizens' initiative was founded in Bieringen, a neighboring town. The goal of the citizens' initiative was to achieve a faster internet connection through radio transmission. To do this, a radio mast should have been erected on the plateau near the Schwalldorf sports field. Signatures were collected. However, the project was abandoned in August 2008 because the city administration announced a public tender. In the fall of 2009, however, the initiative for a faster Internet connection suffered a setback as Telekom terminated the contract for the expansion. The city then had to look for a new provider.

In 2010 a fiber optic cable was finally laid in the village. Cabled VDSL with a speed of up to 50 Mbit / s has been available in town since the end of 2010. The Stuttgart telecommunications service provider NeckarCom, a subsidiary of EnBW , was awarded the contract for DSL coverage .

Water supply

In earlier times the place was supplied with water from local wells. Since problems arose again and again with this type of supply, the communities Schwalldorf, Frommenhausen and Wachendorf joined forces in 1907 and founded the Starzel water supply group. Frommenhausen was designated as its seat. Five years later, in 1912, Bad Niedernau joined the association. The water comes from two karst springs to the left of the Starzel . With the incorporation of the municipalities of Bad Niedernau, Schwalldorf and Frommenhausen into the city of Rottenburg, the Starzel water supply group was integrated into the Rottenburg municipal utilities. Since 2004, the municipalities of Rottenburg have also supplied the municipalities of the association with water from the Bronnbach spring. The water hardness is soft. It is 2.48 millimoles of calcium carbonate per liter. This corresponds to 13.9 ° dH (degree of German hardness).

education

Since 1995 the place has had a single primary school (primary school Schwalldorf-Frommenhausen). Secondary schools can be found in Rottenburg.
