Dettingen is a district of Rottenburg am Neckar in the Tübingen district in Baden-Württemberg .

geography

The place is about six kilometers south of the city of Rottenburg, between the Rottenburg district of Weiler and the other Rottenburg district of Hemmendorf. Dettingen can be reached from Rottenburg via the L389 or through the winding Dettinger Täle from Ofterdingen via the L385. Dettingen lies at the foot of the Rammert forest area . The Aischbach runs through Dettingen and forms the Katzenbach at the confluence with the Krebsbach coming from Hemmendorf . This flows into the Neckar near Bad Niedernau . In the north, on the foothills of the Keuperhöhenzug belonging to the Rammert, there is the 40.12 hectare nature and landscape protection area Rappenberg and in the east the nature reserve Katzenbach-Dünnbachtal .

history

Dettingen is first mentioned in a document in 1275, the name being Alemannic and probably derived from Tato ("court of law"). The age of Dettingen is to be settled much earlier. In 1995, Roman finds in the “Auf der Weil” area brought the wall of a Roman settlement to light. It was probably a Roman estate, a so-called "Villa Rustica". According to the statements of the Tübingen State Monuments Office, this is likely to have originated around 150 AD.

The village came together with the Hohenberger areas in the 14th century to Austria and 1805 to Württemberg .

The formerly independent community was forcibly incorporated into the large district town of Rottenburg am Neckar on January 1, 1975 as part of the community reform , after the citizens had previously spoken out against the incorporation in a referendum.

coat of arms

The Dettinger coat of arms shows a shield divided by silver and red. In the upper field is a fallen ploughshare. This already appeared in old coats of arms before 1930 and was probably an old stain mark . The division of the shield, as well as the local colors red and white, are reminiscent of the Grafschaft Hohenberg.

The coat of arms was established by the municipality at that time in 1959 and formally awarded in 1960.
