Sirnau is a district of Esslingen am Neckar . It is surrounded by meadows and forests in the southeast of the city between Berkheim in the south and Oberesslingen in the north.
In the somewhat secluded place there are many small houses and narrow streets in the far west, sports fields and a Protestant church and in the far east a Catholic church. An industrial area is separated by meadows and the driveway to the Dieter Roser Bridge.

Sirnau is located on the southern side of the Neckar between the federal highway 10 in the north and the highway K1215 in the south.
On the other side of the road, Sirnau is separated from Berkheim by the Stockhalde, the Stiftungswald, the Erlenhau and beech forests, which extend to the Filder plain .
You can get to Sirnau from the city center of Esslingen over the Adenauerbrücke or from Oberesslingen over the Dieter-Roser-Brücke.
history
Esslingen acquired the area in 1929 from the municipality of Deizisau .
Sirnau was created as an unemployment settlement from 1932. The settlers initially had to build around 50 houses themselves. The small houses were built in half-timbered construction according to plans by the architect Otto Junge. In 1935 and 1937 and from 1949 to 1952 further single-family houses were built.
politics
The contact person for the issues of the district for the city administration and the municipal council of Esslingen is the Citizens Committee Sirnau. At the district level, the Sirnau Citizens' Committee helps shape community life. He is a member of the working group of citizens 'committees , which exists to exchange experiences and coordinate the individual citizens' committees of the city. The Sirnau Citizens 'Committee was elected for 3 years at the public citizens' meeting held by the city of Esslingen on April 15, 2010 in the hall of the Sirnau sports center .
