Brühl is a district of Esslingen am Neckar . The area of the district is bounded in the northeast by the Neckar and in the southwest by Bundesstraße 10 . It is located in the west of the city between the districts of Weil and Mettingen and can be reached from there via the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer Bridge , built in 1964 . In 2006 a footbridge was built between Brühl and Mettingen over the Neckar at the level of the Mettingen train station.
history
The site has always belonged to Obertürkheim . It was mainly used as a pasture for cattle. In 1856 the Wuerttemberg cotton spinning and weaving mill was established there using water power and ceased production in 1962. On April 1, 1923, the Brühl district became part of the city of Esslingen. The population statistics show 629 residents for 1925 and 1939 and 830 for 1946. The Brühl was created as a workers' colony and has remained so under changed conditions (after Daimler AG took over the cotton mill in 1962). Today there are 1,547 residents, 1,223 of them foreigners.

The contact person for the issues of the district for the city administration and the municipal council of Esslingen is the citizens' committee Mettingen Brühl Weil . At the district level, the citizens' committee helps shape community life. He is a member of the working group of citizens 'committees , which exists to exchange experiences and coordinate the individual citizens' committees of the city. The basis for the working method and the structure of the citizens' committee and the working group is the status adopted by the working group on February 21, 1991 . An agreement was reached as the basis for the cooperation between the citizens' committee, the municipal council and the administration . This was approved by the working group on July 17, 1990 and approved by the municipal council on December 10, 1990. In June 2000, both the status and the agreement were editorially revised.

Company in Brühl
A large part of the area is occupied by a part of the factory belonging to the automobile manufacturer Daimler AG . In 2004, the central technical training center for approx. 650 trainees was opened in Brühl. It belongs to the Mercedes-Benz plant in Untertürkheim . In the center are, among others, industrial mechanics , electronics technicians for automation technology , technical draftsman , mechatronics and automotive mechatronics trained.
