Electronics technicians for automation technology

The electronics technician for automation technology is a recognized training occupation in Germany by ordinance ( Federal Law Gazette 2003 I p. 1144 ). A comparable apprenticeship exists in the trade , the electronics technician specializing in automation technology .

The regular training period is 3½ years. Under certain conditions, the training period can be shortened to 2½ or 3 years. Electronics technicians for automation technology work in the field of low voltage up to 1000 V. They are responsible for automating processes to be processed or repetitive.

The main focus is on the automation of industrial plants . This includes:

Electronics technician for automation technology is considered a shortage occupation for skilled workers in both the manual and industrial sectors in Germany and is on the positive list for foreign skilled workers from non-EU countries.

The examination statistics for the final examination are published every six months by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Due to the new version of the training ordinance in 2018, most of the trainees in 2019 were still examined in accordance with the old training ordinance.
