Automation technician is a regular profession in Switzerland. Typical activities are the planning, construction and testing of apparatus, machines, plants and automation systems.

The basic vocational training to become an automation technician takes 4 years.

The profession of automation technician took the place of the following previous training courses in 1997: electrical mechanic, electrical machine builder and switchgear fitter.

School requirements
