Plant electrician

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Plant electrician was an apprenticeship in Austria . The apprenticeship in electrical systems was replaced on July 1, 2010 by the module apprenticeship in electrical engineering .

activities

Plant electricians develop solutions for control and automation tasks . They build electrical apparatus, machines , plants and automation systems and put them into operation or carry out maintenance work on them. They often work with other specialists on projects or individual assignments. The tasks in the job include the development and programming of programmable logic controllers (PLC) and the application and creation of technical documents. Manual and mechanical production is still very common in the plant electrician profession. The programming and development of controls is more the job of trained system electricians. The assignments at work cover a broad spectrum and can take place in industrial and commercial companies.

versatility

A trained system electrician has in-depth knowledge and skills in the fields of electrical engineering , electronics , digital technology , electrical measurement technology , pneumatics , hydraulics , drive technology , control technology , technical English and quality assurance .

education

The training takes place in the company and in the vocational school and lasts four years.

Most companies prefer the dual training system by means of a part-time vocational school, which means that the trainee spends one day a week at the vocational school, and for a system electrician even two days for a semester.

Journeyman examination

The system electrician's journeyman's examination is divided into two sections.

The intermediate examination is scheduled between the second and third year of the apprenticeship and includes the production of a mechanical workpiece and an electrical circuit (300 minutes), as well as a technical discussion.

The actual journeyman's examination takes place at the end of the fourth year of training and includes:

  • The production of an electronic workpiece and an electrical circuit (690–720 minutes),
  • a control task on a programmable logic controller (120 minutes),
  • troubleshooting an electronic circuit and an electrical system,
  • a technical discussion.

Both exams must be successfully completed in order to receive the journeyman's certificate.

further education

One possibility is the vocational diploma , whereby the teaching profession can be counted as a so-called subject area, the prerequisite for this is to pass the journeyman's examination with distinction. The vocational school leaving certificate can also be taken in connection with the master craftsman examination.

It is also possible to enter the second or third year of a higher technical college (HTL) by means of an advanced course.

Some further training opportunities at higher technical schools:

  • Higher educational institute for professionals in electrical engineering
  • Higher college for professionals for electronics
  • Higher education institute for professionals for electronics - technical informatics
  • Higher education institute for professionals for electronics - telecommunications

Some further training opportunities at universities of applied sciences:

  • Civil engineering - construction management (part-time)
  • Civil engineering - project management
  • building technology
  • Electronic engineering / industrial electronics
  • Automated plant and process technology
  • Automation technology (part-time)
  • Production and automation technology
  • Precision, systems and information technology (full-time and part-time)
  • Precision, system and information technology for professionals - interdisciplinary management
  • Electronics (full-time and part-time)
