Journeyman's Examination (Germany)

In the recognized training occupations of the trades in Annex A and Annex B of the Crafts Code, journeyman's examinations are carried out in accordance with Section 31 of the Crafts Code (HwO) .

The journeyman's examination is intended to determine whether the examinee has the professional ability to act . According to § 33 HwO, the examination is carried out by an examination board of the responsible body in accordance with the training regulations and the examination regulations. The management of the examination board is then often taken over by the district craftsmen. The examination board decides on the admission to the examination, the assessment of the examination performances and ultimately on the passing of the examination.

Then the national winner will be determined from the list of state winners. He receives a certificate of honor in gold from the German Chamber of Crafts. The national winners can receive scholarships from the German National Academic Foundation in order to complete their training at universities and colleges as part of the promotion of highly gifted students.

The national winners often also take part in international professional competitions such as WorldSkills .
