Mechatronics engineer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mechatronics technician is the job title of a recognized training occupation in the commercial sector. The job title is derived from the made-up word ( suitcase word ) mechatronics , which was formed from the combination of mechanics , electronics and computer science and describes the interaction of the specialist disciplines mechanical engineering , electrical engineering and information technology . The job of the mechatronics technician is very similar to the job of the electromechanic , whose job-specific training in Germany was given up on August 1, 2003. However, it differs significantly from the automotive mechatronics technician .

Germany

This profession was recognized by the ordinance on professional training for mechatronics technicians of March 4, 1998 ( Federal Law Gazette I p. 408 ). Since August 1, 2011, the Mechatronics Training Ordinance (MechatronikerAusbV) of July 21, 2011 ( BGBl. I p. 1516 , ber. BGBl. I p. 1888 ) has been the legal basis for vocational training. The last change is the version of the announcement of June 28, 2018 ( Federal Law Gazette 2018 I p. 1057 ). Content on the progressive digitization of the world of work was added to the training content. In addition, four additional modules have been added that can be taken at the end of the training in addition to the final exam. (Digital networking, programming, IT security, additive manufacturing processes)

Training content

The profession was originally designed for mechanical and plant engineering . For this reason, training content for the holistic creation process of machines and systems is provided in the profession:

  • Pre-assembly of components,
  • Manual and machine cutting , cutting and forming ,
  • Installation and assembly of machines and systems at the customer
  • Programming of mechatronic systems,
  • Installation and testing of hardware and software components ,
  • Construction and testing of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic controls,
  • Laying the supply lines,
  • Commissioning , including functional and safety tests.

In the Ordinance on Vocational Training for Mechatronics Technicians (Mechatronics Training Ordinance - MechatronicsAusbV) of July 21, 2011 and the change announcement of June 28, 2018, the training content is described as follows:

  1. Vocational training , labor and collective bargaining law,
  2. Structure and organization of the training company ,
  3. Safety and health protection at work,
  4. Environmental protection ,
  5. Digitization of work, data protection and information security, [added in 2018]
  6. Operational and technical communication ,
  7. Planning and controlling work processes, controlling and evaluating work results ,
  8. Quality management ,
  9. Checking, marking and marking,
  10. Manual and machine cutting, cutting and forming,
  11. Joining ,
  12. Installing electrical assemblies and components,
  13. Measuring and testing electrical quantities ,
  14. Installation and testing of hardware and software components,
  15. Construction and testing of controls,
  16. Programming of mechatronic systems,
  17. Assembling of subassemblies and components for machines and systems,
  18. Assembly and disassembly of machines, systems and installations; Transporting and securing,
  19. Checking and setting functions on mechatronic systems,
  20. Commissioning and operation of mechatronic systems,
  21. Maintenance of mechatronic systems.

Areas of application

The apprenticeship mechatronics technician is a cross-sectional occupation that can be trained and used in various branches of industry :

General

Mechatronics technicians are electrical specialists and metal specialists , i. In other words, they are trained so that they can work independently on electrical and mechanical systems. Qualifications in metalworking and electrical engineering are just as necessary as the basics of hydraulics , pneumatics and control technology . Measuring, testing and programming of components are also on the plan of the 3½-year training (this can be shortened to 3 years).

Mechatronics engineers are involved in the assembly, commissioning and maintenance of mechatronic systems of complex machines, plants and systems. These activities are carried out at different locations, on assembly sites, in machine halls or in workshops and companies in tool and special machine construction . Dealing with control and regulation technology is a central branch of the work of a mechatronics engineer. He must be able to install a programmable logic controller . This also includes the correct use of various fieldbus systems.

Since the range of training is very broad, considerable differences can be found in the focus of in-company training. In some companies, for example, training is strongly geared towards electronics technicians and only supplemented by basic mechanical skills, but the opposite specialization can also occur. The reason for this lies in the different tasks that the mechatronics technician should take on in the respective company. For example, it can be used in mechanical maintenance or as an electronic maintenance technician.

In 2015, mechatronics was considered a shortage occupation for skilled workers in Germany and is on the positive list for foreign skilled workers from non-EU countries.

In the GDR, training as a skilled worker for BMSR technology corresponded to that of today's mechatronic technician according to the state of the art at the time.

According to the 2017 DGB training report, the mechatronics technician apprentices rated their training as the best. The average apprenticeship remuneration is given as 1027 €, the chance of a job after the apprenticeship with 47.5%.

Austria

In Austria, the term mechatronic as a craft is even broader. The apprenticeship mechatronics technician is completed as a dual training with a training period of 3.5 years. According to § 18 Para. 1 of the Trade Regulations 1994, Federal Law Gazette No. 194, last amended by the Federal Act, Federal Law Gazette I No. 111/2002, there are:

  • Mechatronics technician for manual production for janitorial systems in technical areas of schools
  • Mechatronics technician for machine and production technology
  • Mechatronics engineer for electrical engineering and automation
  • Mechatronics technician for medical device technology
  • Mechatronics technician for electronics, office and IT system technology (authorized to carry out the activities of refrigeration and air conditioning technicians as well as communications electronics technicians)
  • In the 2002 amendment to the GewO, electronics engineers and office communication technicians were combined to form mechatronics technicians for electronics, office and IT system technology.
example

After passing the exam, the mechatronics technician for electronics, office and EDP system technology has knowledge and skills for:

  1. Installation and commissioning of mechanical, electromechanical, electrical and electronic machines, systems and devices for office and data technology.
  2. Planning, production and commissioning of mechanical, electromechanical, electrical and electronic assemblies on machines, systems and devices for office and data technology.
  3. Planning, manufacture, assembly, maintenance, fault clearance and repair of electromechanical and electronic systems, devices and assemblies, in particular regulation, control, switching, measuring, testing, counting, signaling and security technology and for medical, laboratory, commercial and household purposes.
  4. Design, construction, construction, commissioning, fault clearance, maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic machines, transformers, magnetic components and systems as well as control and regulating devices for power generation, welding and drive technology.
Craftsman

The Chamber of Commerce has its own guild of mechatronics. Previous freelance workers who z. B. have developed electronic assemblies, automatically become commercial craftsmen and thus compulsory members of the Chamber of Commerce and the commercial social security system due to the broad definition. An electronics engineer who, for example, would like to offer development activities for electronics as a self-employed person and can provide evidence of the necessary professional experience, is automatically assigned to the trade mechatronics technician, special mechatronics training is not required.
