Electrical industry
The electrical industry , the time of the industrial revolution originated in the late 19th century, the industry of electrical engineering and is roughly divided into the two areas Elektrogerätebau and power . Individual departments of the electrical industry are z. B. Plant , automation , batteries , consumer electronics , electric vehicles , electrical power engineering , cable , power - capacitors , transformers and defense technology .
The electrical industry is the second largest industrial sector after mechanical and plant engineering and with 155 billion euros in 2011 one of the largest export sectors in Germany. Their share in German industrial production was twelve percent in 2011. In 2011, the number of employees in the German electrical industry was 841,672 (provisional) and the turnover was 177.9 billion euros (provisional). The turnover of the German electrical industry abroad was 100 billion euros.
The Zentralverband Elektrotechnik- und Elektronikindustrie e. V. (ZVEI) represents the interests of the German electrical industry. The employers (companies) are united in the employers' association Gesamtmetall , the employees in the trade unions IG Metall and IG Bergbau, Chemie, Energie .
