The Pleutersbach is on its name run less than 4 km, together with its longest upper course almost 8 km long left and southern tributary of the Neckar from the Little Odenwald , which shortly after the great north curve of the river near the town of Eberbach in the Baden-Württemberg Rhine-Neckar -Circle flows into the village of Pleutersbach von Eberbach.

geography

course

The Pleutersbach arises at about 210  m above sea level. NN in the Allemühl district of the community of Schönbrunn in the Rhein-Neckar district from the union of the left and from the southwest flowing Altbach and the right and from the southeast coming Krebsbach . Both upper course branches are at least as long as the Pleutersbach itself. The longer upper course as well as the more than double sub-catchment area belongs to the Altbach branch, which runs in two branches until shortly before the mouth in the local area - Allemühl was earlier like that Name suggests, location of some mills.

From its origin by name, the Pleutersbach runs northwards in a notched valley , the slopes of which are soon down deep in the forest, accompanied by the L 595 to the left of the stream. The 1.8 km long, small stone well brook flows from the right in the village of Bréreich , that near the Heiligkreuzkirche at almost 405  m above sea level. NN rises from the stone well ; it is the highest spring in the entire catchment area.

After less than half a kilometer, the stream leaves the local area, now it only has an inflow of smaller slope channels. The valley floor is nowhere even 150 meters wide up to the edge of the estuary. In it there are mostly mostly moist and partly boggy meadows that drop noticeably towards the run, which is predominantly at the foot of the forest slope to the right of the valley, up to 518.8  m above sea level. NN high Heberts flows along. The piston summit of the left ridge, however, only reaches 461.6  m above sea level. NN . Two stone bars in the forest halfway up the left slope indicate that at least parts of the slopes were previously used for agriculture.

At the level of a small abandoned quarry, the brook emerges from its Waldenge into the village of Pleutersbach in the town of Eberbach , which is surrounded by cleared slopes . Soon afterwards it flows into it, after a run of 3.6 km, with the longest upper course of 7.7 km, at 121.7  m above sea level. NN from the left into the Neckar, shortly after its large north bend in the Odenwald.

It flows about 88 meters below its origin in Allemühl, the mean bottom slope for this route is 25 ‰. If one considers the hydrological upper course sequence constructed according to the larger sub-catchment area at each confluence, the stream has  an average bed gradient of around 33 ‰ on the entire section sequence from Enzbach → Altbach → Pleutersbach with an absolute gradient of around 253 meters in altitude.

Catchment area

The Pleuterbach has a catchment area of 18.2 km² in the natural area Sandstoneodenwald , the greater part of which lies in the eastern part of its sub-area Kleiner Odenwald , with parts very close to the mouth in the sub-area Odenwald-Neckar Valley . It extends from south to north about 6.6 km, is from west to east in the upper area up to about 5.2 km wide and ends in a pointed wedge. The watershed to the right of the stream reaches its 518.8  m above sea level. NN greatest height on the Hebert , the left on the highest with only 461.6  m above sea level. NN .

The waters outside the watershed competing in turn are in the northeast the Wimmersbach , which flows into the Neckar in Waldwimmersbach , in the east the Neckar itself, in the southeast the Krösselbach to the Neckar, in the southeast the trout stream , which drains into the Neckar via Schwarzbach and Elsenz . In the south-south-west, its right upper course, the Wimmersbach, leads the outflow over the Lobbach a little further down to Elsenz, in the west the Seitelsbach directly into the Neckar, and finally in the north-west the Klingenbach at the beginning of its Hirschhorn double loop also into the Neckar.

Almost three quarters of the catchment area is covered by forest. More than two-thirds of the open area belongs to the common highland clearing island around Moosbrunn , Schönbrunn and Haag west of the watercourses, only smaller parts represent the clearing around Allemühl at the confluence of the upper courses , the northern edge of the clearing island around Schwanheim , the part of Pleutersbach and its drainage to the brook Valley direction as well as the meadow bottom of the Pleutersbach between Allemühl and Pleuterbach, measuring less than 0.2 km². At the higher altitudes, arable farming dominates in the open fields, but it is also practiced in the valleys that are not too close to the stream.

Administratively, five sixths of the catchment area belong to the municipality of Schönbrunn, the remaining sixth in the northeast and north to the city of Eberbach .

The stream is 3.6 km long from the confluence of its two immediate upper courses Altbach and Krebsbach and 7.7 km from its source furthest from the mouth at the beginning of the upper course Lohwiesengraben , it has a catchment area of 18.2 km².

Localities

on the run with their affiliations. Only the names of the lowest nesting level denote neighboring settlements.

There are no other settlement areas in the catchment area far from the named watercourses. The Schönbrunn district of Schwanheim borders in the south-southeast on the outside of the watershed.

geology

The drainage area of the Pleutersbach is largely part of the red sandstone landscape of the Kleiner Odenwald. The sources of the upper course, which converges in Allemühl, are all in the Upper Buntsandstein , the confluence with the Neckar in the Lower Buntsandstein or at best in the uppermost Permian strata. Loess sediment layers from Quaternary deposits lie on the heights on the western and southern edges of the catchment area .

The relative storage conditions of the various layers of red sandstone are largely determined by the local tectonics . A disturbance moving approximately to the north follows the Krebsbach – Pleutersbach waterway to the mouth. East of this, a parallel fault runs roughly on the ridge line over the Hebert and continues outside the catchment area and beyond the Neckar in the north-south valley of the Gammelsbach . At an angle to this main direction, faults running from southeast to northwest cross the valley train twice. The upper one runs roughly in the direction of the Hirschbächlein, intersects the Altbach in the Altemühler Flur and continues in a straight line outside through the underflow of the Moosbrunner Klingenbach to at least the Neckar; it shifts the upper red sandstone in the southwest (deep floe) against the middle red sandstone in the northeast (high floe). Exactly the same stratification shows a parallel disturbance, which without morphological characteristics extends from the Hebert slope to the foot of the slope in the valley between Allemühl and Pleutersbach.

While there are several, mostly longer valleys in north-south orientation north of the Neckar in the Odenwald , such as the Gammelsbachtal mentioned above, the Pleutersbachtal in the interior of the Eberbacher Neckar-Nordschlinge is the only one with this orientation south of the river in the Kleiner Odenwald .

Protected areas

The entire area is owned by the Neckartal-Odenwald until the local documents and small border areas of these also the conservation area Neckartal I-Kleiner Odenwald . The 15-hectare Todtenbronnen nature reserve has been set up at the Lohwiesengraben in the area of the death and glass wells .
