The Lobbach is a stream in the Rhein-Neckar district in north-western Baden-Württemberg , which flows into the Elsenz from the right in Meckesheim and drains part of the Kleiner Odenwald .

Surname

The municipality Lobbach is named after the Lobbach , in whose area it has been running for a long time. The lower course is also called Maienbach .

geography

The Lobbach does not have its own source, but arises on the eastern edge of Waldwimmersbach at about 225  m above sea level. NN from the confluence of its two headwaters, Wimmersbach and Mannbach, which differ neither in length nor in catchment area.

Wimmersbach

This right upper course arises at about 385  m above sea level. NN about one kilometer northeast of the Schönbrunn village of Haag in the forest. It first flows south-west, then leaves the forest towards the west towards Haag, which it crosses in an arc to the left, before moving south-west again. At the Haager Mühle he enters a forest valley with repeatedly open sections on the ground, through which the L 595 accompanies him. At the sports field in the east of Waldwimmersbach, it meets the Mannbach coming from the east-southeast, creating the Lobbach.

The Wimmersbach is 4.9 km long and the Lobbach provides a partial catchment area of 5.8 km².

Mannbach

The left upper course Mannbach arises at about 372  m above sea level. NN about one kilometer in the east of Haag in the same large forest area as the Wimmersbach and only about 700 meters south of this. It moves for a long time southwest through the forest and at the edge of the forest until it turns to the west-northwest in the direction of the Rehhecken valley and after a further kilometer lower reaches next to the L 532 merges with the Wimmersbach to the Lobbach.

The Mannbach is 4.8 km long and the Lobbach provides a partial catchment area of 5.9 km².

course

The Lobbach runs through Waldwimmersbach westwards and then in a bend around the Hackenberg on to the southwest. she maintains this direction to the end. After the confluence of the Hettenbach from the left, there is another wooded mountain on this side, where the woodland ends again, the Lobenfeld on the right bank and on the slope begins, which is immediately followed on the same side a little further from the bank by the Lobenfeld monastery ; The municipality of Spechbach borders here on the left bank - without settlement on the Lauf . Before the next village Mönchzell im Tal, which already belongs to the municipality of Meckesheim, the second larger tributary Langentalgraben feeds the Lobbach from the right, then the Brunnenbächel also from the right opposite the Buchwald . After a short section of forest on both slopes, the brook reaches Meckesheim itself. There the Lobbach flows after a short stretch west of the river at about 139  m above sea level. NN from the right into the middle Elsenz .

The Lobbach has, depending on where they are allowed to start, a length of 9.9 kilometers (from the upper reaches confluence in Waldwimmersbach) or of 14.9 kilometers (from the forest source of Wimmer Bach at Hague along with this). In the upper reaches, its upper courses and the brook have dug themselves into the upper red sandstone , from around Lobenfeld it cuts the geologically higher layers of the upper, middle and lower shell limestone .

Catchment area

The Lobbach in Waldwimmersbach

The catchment area of the Lobbach belongs with its upper part to about the left swivel of the brook to the southwest in Waldwimmersbach of the eastern Little Odenwald of the natural area Sandstoneodenwald . In contrast, the middle and lower reaches of the Lobbach, including their tributaries, are located in the Schwarzbachgäu lower area of the Kraichgau . The northernmost and at the same time the highest point, which drains towards the Lobbach, is around 448  m above sea level. NN west of Schönbrunn am Flurrand to the Bürgerwald .

The catchment area of the Lobbach is uncharacteristically narrow and - measured by the length of the brook - at 27.0 km² it is quite small. In turn, the catchment areas of the following waters are adjacent: in the north-northwest that of the Finsterbach , in the north that of the Pleutersbach , both of which flow into the Neckar ; in the northeast that of the Forellenbach , in the east that of the Wartschaftsbach or Viehtriebbach , in the southeast that of the Epfenbach , all of which run into the Schwarzbach , which flows into the Elsenz less than a kilometer before the Lobbach itself ; after the smaller Elsenz tributaries and the Mühlbach flowing into it below Meckesheim in the southwest, the Biddersbach competes behind the western watershed.

The catchment area is predominantly rural. In addition to the municipalities of Schönbrunn, Lobbach and Meckesheim already mentioned, it extends to smaller parts of the Reichartshausen , Epfenbach and Spechbach markings . Below the source streams, all tributaries remain under two kilometers in length.
