history
Early history
Reichartshausen was first mentioned in a document as Richardshusen in Sinsheimern yearbooks in 1100 , but the establishment of the place probably dates back to Alemannic times . The village was the seat of the central court of the so-called Reichartshauser or Stüber Zent and came with them, after armed conflicts, in 1367 to the Electoral Palatinate and was subordinate to the Unteramt Dilsberg, which later belonged to the Oberamt Heidelberg . The local rule changed many times. From 1522 the Reformation entered Reichartshausen. In 1688 the place was destroyed during the Palatinate War of Succession . The last execution took place in the Cent in 1780.
19th century until today
In 1803 Reichartshausen came to Baden , where it was incorporated into the Neckarbischofsheim district office in 1810 and the Sinsheim district office in 1864 . During the Second World War , Wilhelm Stumpf handed the community over to the Americans, which is why the place was saved from major destruction and the occupiers finally appointed him as mayor. In 1939 there were 829 inhabitants, at the end of 1945 there were 989.
In the course of the Baden-Württemberg district reform , the district of Sinsheim was dissolved in 1973 and the community was incorporated into the newly formed Rhein-Neckar district . Reichartshausen joined the Waibstadt municipal administration association. The growth of the community was accompanied by infrastructure measures such as the construction of an outdoor swimming pool, a festival hall and a youth campground.
In 1999 the construction of the residential area Hiehl III began . In 2000 the 900th anniversary of the first documentary mention was celebrated. In 2004 Reichartshausen had more than 2000 inhabitants for the first time. The residential area Im Trieb-Krummenacker was built between 2006 and 2007 . In 2012 the town center was renovated

coat of arms
The blazon of the coat of arms reads: In silver on a green shield base a red house, the middle part raised like a tower and with a black cross on the pointed roof.
The coat of arms, which was assigned by the General State Archives in 1901, goes back to a court seal that has been traceable since 1752. The meaning is not clear. It could refer to the place name as a talking coat of arms . Another interpretation would be a symbolization for the town hall, in which the Central Court met.
The flag is green and white and was awarded by the Interior Ministry in 1956.
Partnerships
Reichartshausen has maintained partnership relationships with the Neudorf / Spree district of the Malschwitz community in Saxony since October 3, 1990 .
Culture and sights
The Protestant church dates from 1772 and was renovated in 2000. The baroque pulpit of the church is worth seeing, the interior is decorated with simple paintings of other churches in the area.
The center of Reichartshausen is characterized by several, partly historical fountains , which are surrounded by the baroque rectory and other equally baroque buildings.
The town hall is a modern purpose-built building outside the historic core of the settlement; the school building was built in 1891 and expanded in 1950.
According to tradition, the Karl Ludwig oak goes back to Elector Karl Ludwig . He stuck an acorn into the ground on a hunting trip around 1650 after it was said to have fallen on his food. In Reichartshausen there are several hiking trails, a forest tent and a heated outdoor pool. Until a few years ago there was also a beautiful park in Reichartshausen in which the historical gallows column stood. However, this was sold in the course of the "village-friendly town center renovation".
