Oberensingen is a district of the large district town of Nürtingen in the Esslingen district in Baden-Württemberg .
geography
Oberensingen is located at an altitude of 281 m above sea level. NN on the left bank of the Neckar , connects directly to the northwest to the core city of Nürtingen and lies on the eastern ascent to the Filder plateau .
history
Oberensingen is probably an early medieval settlement of the older Unterensingen . The first documented mention of Oberensingen is 1344 ( Obern Ensingen ). Already in the 15th century the quarrying of sandstone quarries was a profitable source of income for the residents. Around 1475 there were twelve stone pits in operation, and in 1526 seven. The millstones made here were sold throughout the country and beyond until the 19th century. It is to this craft that the people of Oberensingen owe their nickname "Sand Hare", which is still used today.
In 1988, during development work, the remains of a Roman estate, a Villa Rustica , were discovered on the northeast slope. It is one of the largest Roman manors in Baden-Württemberg. The recovered finds are exhibited in the Nürtingen City Museum.
Public facilities
The place has two kindergartens, a primary school (Friedrich-Glück-Schule) and a branch of the Nürtingen city library. Furthermore, since 1955 there is a retirement and nursing home of the Samariterstiftung in the village.
traffic
Oberensingen is connected to the Wendlingen junction of the A8 by the four-lane federal highway 313 . Oberensingen is connected to Nürtingen (with the Neckar-Alb-Bahn station from Tübingen-Stuttgart), Filderstadt- Bernhausen (with an S-Bahn connection ) and Stuttgart- Degerloch (with a light rail connection ) via the VVS bus line 74 . The bus route 167 opens up the front Aichtal.
Others
In contrast to the districts of Nürtingen, which were incorporated in the 1970s, Oberensingen does not have its own local administration with a local council. As a special feature, there is the citizens' committee in Oberensingen . This honorary representative is elected by the citizens and serves the city administration and the municipal council as a point of contact for matters relating to the district.
