Raidwangen is a district of the large district town of Nürtingen in the Esslingen district in Baden-Württemberg .

Raidwangen is located at an altitude of 279 m (at Beutwangsee) to 369  m above sea level. NN and is located about three kilometers southwest of Nürtingen and about one kilometer from the Neckar .

history

The place first appeared as a late clearing settlement in 1236 ( Raidenwang ) in the documents. The Counts of Urach gave the Cistercian monastery Bebenhausen a courtyard in Raidwangen. A little later (between 1254 and 1265) the high authorities with the county of Urach came to Württemberg .

On October 1st, 1974 Raidwangen was incorporated into the city of Nürtingen.

Religions

The village church

The Raidwanger belonged to the parish of Nürtingen until 1507, then to the parish of Neckarhausen . In 1910 the Raidwanger were able to inaugurate their own village church, but were still not independent. From 1930 they belonged to the community in Großbettlingen . From 1981 they became an independent parish.

There is no Catholic parish in Raidwangen; the Methodist Church has a parish hall on site.

The ten-person local council has been headed by Marietta Weil as the full-time local mayor since January 2011.

There are two kindergartens and one elementary school in the village.

The village is characterized by its quiet, idyllic location and a lively club life. There is the vaulting club Raidwangen e. V., the sports club TSV Raidwangen , the tennis club TC Raidwangen , the music club Die Original Raidwanger Dorfmusikanten , the fruit and gardening club Raidwangen e. V., the RV Raidwangen riding club, the Raidwangen Free Fools' Guild and the Raidwangen choral society 1898 .

There is a beach volleyball field on the sports field of TSV Raidwangen, which is used daily in summer.

Raidwangen is located at the foot of the Swabian Alb on the B 313 between Nürtingen and Metzingen . By Stuttgart , there are 30-minute drive, the Federal Highway 8 (exit Wendlingen ) is about 10 minutes.
