history

The first mention of the place was in 1147 by the ministerial of the bishop of Bamberg , Konrad von Balgheim. In the Middle Ages, the parish village was under the sovereignty of the Count of Oettingen , but many estates were subject to other manors . By 1760 there were six. Of the 88 properties at the time, 44 belonged to the Oberamt Alerheim , 27 to the Teutonic Order , eight to the Zimmer monastery , and five to Nördlingen . In the southern district, in the direction of Merzingen, there was the hamlet of Lambertshofen , which is mentioned in documents from the 13th century and later became desolate.

Since 2008 the village community has been renovating the Vogelbauernhof , a listed farm, and converting it into a community center. The bird farmer's house dates from the beginning of the 17th century. A clay tablet with the year and the Nördlinger Reichsadler refers to the former affiliation of this farm to the Nördlingen Scholarship Foundation .

On May 1, 1978, the previously independent municipality, to which the main town also belonged the Betzenmühle and the Donismühle, was incorporated into the municipality of Möttingen.
