The Hohenkarpfen (also just called carp in the area ) is 911.5 m above sea level. NHN high Zeugenberg in the Swabian Alb on the Baar plateau between the towns of Hausen ob Verena , Gunningen and Seitingen-Oberflacht , with the first two towns mentioned as symbolic of the Hohenkarpfen as a carp fish in the municipal coat of arms . It is only a few kilometers from the Albtrauf with the Trinity Mountain and on the other side from Lupfen - another witness mountain.
The counts of Lupfen talked originally a castle on the Hohenkarpfen, the castle Hohenkarpfen but which was razed and has been preserved by nothing more.
Today the Hohenkarpfen is a popular destination due to its picturesque cone shape and the view over the Baar and into the Black Forest . The summit area has been under landscape protection since 1944 and nature protection since 1984.
The Hohenkarpfen Art Foundation , which maintains a museum on the Hohenkarpfen, is well known beyond the region.
