The Hohenkarpfen nature and landscape protection area is located in the area of ​​the municipalities of Hausen ob Verena and Gunningen in the Tuttlingen district in Baden-Württemberg .

Characteristics

The landscape protection area was created on January 11, 1944, when parts of the district were placed under protection by the Tuttlingen District Office for the protection of landscape parts and elements of the landscape . The nature reserve was designated by ordinance of the regional council of Freiburg dated October 19, 1984 under the protected area number 3138. This ordinance was published in the Law Gazette for Baden-Württemberg on November 30, 1984 and came into force thereafter. The CDDA code is 162111 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .

location

The Hohenkarpfen protected areas are around 1.5 kilometers south of Hausen ob Verena. They include the 912 meter high witness mountain of the same name in the Swabian Alb . The NSG protects the extended, wooded summit area, the LSG connects in a ring around it and serves as a supplementary area to the NSG. Both protected areas belong entirely to FFH area no. 7919-311 Großer Heuberg and Donautal and are located in the natural area 121- Baar within the natural spatial main unit 10- Gäuplatten in the Neckar and Tauberland .

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose is the preservation of the "Hohenkarpfens", the remains of the castle complex are registered in the monument book according to §§ 12 and 15, as a unique geological document, which is of particular importance for the Baar landscape in its peculiarity and beauty and as a habitat for one Variety of rare animal and plant species.
