The Hintelestal is a northern side valley of the Danube near Kolbingen in the district of Tuttlingen .
location
The valley is located in the Baaralb , Upper Danube and Hohe Schwabenalb natural areas and is about 1.5 kilometers southeast of Kolbingen in the Tuttlingen district.
Protected area
Characteristics
The valley was designated as a nature reserve by ordinance on October 1, 1937 and has an area of 19.1 hectares . It is listed under the protected area number 3.081 at the regional council of Freiburg and is classified in IUCN category IV. The CDDA code is 81881 and also corresponds to the WDPA ID .
The protected area was reduced from 50 hectares originally designated in 1937 by ordinance of December 20, 1989 to the present area and has since continued further south of the Hintelestal as the Buchhalde-Oberes Donautal nature reserve (NSG 3.171).
Flora and fauna
The protected area with steep, in places rocky valley slopes, planted with beech and ravine forests, is known for extensive populations of the spring knot flower, also known as Märzenbecher . Later in the year, among other things, the hollow larkspur and the wild silver leaf bloom here .
