The Alter Berg nature reserve is located in the municipality of Böttingen in the Tuttlingen district in Baden-Württemberg .

Characteristics

The area was designated as a nature reserve under the protection area number 3231 by ordinance of the Freiburg Regional Council of December 17, 1996. This ordinance was published in the Law Gazette for Baden-Württemberg on February 21, 1997 and came into force thereafter. The CDDA code is 162111 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .

location

The protected area is around one kilometer south of Böttingen. It is the 980 meter high mountain of the same name in the Swabian Alb . It belongs entirely to FFH area no. 7919-311 Großer Heuberg and Danube Valley , to the bird sanctuary 7820-441- Südwestalb and Upper Danube Valley and also to the Upper Danube Nature Park . It is located in the natural area 093- Hohe Schwabenalb within the natural spatial main unit 09- Swabian Alb .

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose is the preservation of the Old Mountain as a human-shaped, richly structured area with juniper heaths, rough lawns, stone bars, hedges and open willow forests as well as a habitat for a multitude of rare and protected, well-arranged and extensively used animal and plant species.
