The Unterhölzer Wald nature reserve is located in the area of ​​the cities of Bad Dürrheim and Donaueschingen in the Black Forest-Baar district and the city of Geisingen in the Tuttlingen district in Baden-Württemberg .

The area extends northwest of the core city of Geisingen. Not far to the east, the Kötach flows and the A 81 runs . The B 33 runs along the southwestern edge of the area, and the Danube flows to the south and west . The 170.9 hectare nature reserve Birken-Mittelmeß extends to the west .
